Most Magical Place on the Planet- Cappadocia, Turkey- RTW Nomadic Family Travel Question #29

Most Magical Place on the Planet- Cappadocia, Turkey- RTW Nomadic Family Travel Question #29

After three and half year globetrotting, it’s a huge honor to sit back, sigh, and reflect. There were moments that sucked beyond comprehension, moments where I wanted to crawl into fetal position and be ‘home’ (whatever that really means); and there were moments when I raised my hands to the heavens or hugged my kids and Kobi even closer still, and thanked God/the fairies/the stars for our unreal fortune and luck to have been able to have had just that moment. We grew so close, fell apart, witnessed, cried, laughed, got lost and found in seventeen lands and always still in the chamber of our own souls. And sometimes, we’re asked THE question, the one that take my breath away- where was your favorite place in the world, which is evergreen bittersweet for there is something unquenchably romantic about the longing of the human heart, and how, no matter how wonderful it was, or how it could never be that again, or even no matter how remarkable the Now...

Arriving at Earth Camp, Time to Reconnect to Nature- Nomad Adventures, Malaysia

Arriving at Earth Camp, Time to Reconnect to Nature- Nomad Adventures, Malaysia

God, were we unprepared. We had every best intention to fall in love with this unreal place, to enjoy it’s connectedness to Mother Earth, and to enjoy the zip line, the omega, the caving, the white river rafting, and the unreal staff of Nomad Adventures, and we did, we did, we did, but we were just very lost and tired during this point of our adventures, as we’ve been so many other times on the road, and off. So all of our videos reflect how cool the place is and how much going to Earth Camp with kids is an unreal endless adventure that you cannot ever, ever forget (we are eternally grateful for being invited to participate in it all) and still, we were just tired and a bit overwhelmed with our lives, which is also partially portrayed between the lines. 🙂  1- Arriving at Earth Camp 2- Super Dahnya Scales Ropes Course 3- Nomad Adventure Zip Line for Kids 4- Amazing Family Activities 5- Ship Shape Shacks...

First Arrivals, Ayvalik Toasts, & Turkish Survivor- Macaron Konagi Otel, SmallHotels.com.tr, Ayvalik, Turkey

First Arrivals, Ayvalik Toasts, & Turkish Survivor- Macaron Konagi Otel, SmallHotels.com.tr, Ayvalik, Turkey

The sun always shines when new love wraps itself around your soul. For the third time this morning, the sweet woman here at Cumbali Konak Otel in Alacati, Turkey is adjusting the cushions of the outside sofas just so in the sun and I’m thinking how much I adore people doing things because they care. There is just so much love in the world that sometimes, sometimes, I just can’t contain it. I don’t know where to put it, but I’m so grateful that I am basking in it, for that hour, that minute, that second. So grateful. And so it was in Ayvalik that we had so many beautiful firsts. Our first breakfast at one of the tens of SmallHotels.com.tr that we had the honor to be invited to, our first Ayvalik toast (which turns out to be a huge cultural thing that we kept seeing all over Turkey, also far away from Ayvalik), and our first exposure to Turkish Survivor, which we ended up being deliriously addicted...

Straining Pasta, Stress, Nostalgia & Walter Mitty- Our Holiday Lettings Apartment Pashas House- Istanbul, Turkey

Life on the road is not all about ruins, historic sites, and crazy adventures. We have those too. But mostly, our lives are about finding ourselves, creating peace in the family, and finding and losing the delicate balances of optimal mental, spiritual, and physical health. Sometimes family world travel life on the road is also about creative ways to overcome obstacles and smelling, tasting, or seeing something that reminds us of home. Sometimes, family life on the road is about watching a movie together as a family and experiencing something that touches the unspoken deep within us. Lost and Found & Love is the Key- Macaron Yuvasi Otel, Ayvalik, Turkey, SmallHotels.com.tr

Lost and Found & Love is the Key- Macaron Yuvasi Otel, Ayvalik, Turkey, SmallHotels.com.tr

And in my last post in Macaron Konagi I shared some of the dark clouds of parenting. Sometimes, when you are just not sure you are doing anything right. We got lost. All of us. Got lost in the hubbub of motion and lost the core, which for me right now is simple: health and family. Yes we lost it (as we often do), and then, and then, and then we found it again. That’s kind of life if you think about it, lost and found, lost and found, clear and unclear, know and clueless, and all the hues of laughter and joy, crying and sadness that fall in between. Welcome to Lost and Found, and the answer, that always, always, always Love is the Key.   The Difference Between Feeling Alive and Not Who We Are and Love is the Key This heart from the Macaron Konagi garden says it all. The softness of it all. Any thoughts? Yes, love? Lost and found? Been there? Got out of...

The Mother of All Videos, The Father of All Vacations- SmallHotels.com.tr, Macaron Konagi Otel- Ayvalik, Turkey- Eastern Europe Road Trip

The Mother of All Videos, The Father of All Vacations- SmallHotels.com.tr, Macaron Konagi Otel- Ayvalik, Turkey- Eastern Europe Road Trip

And so our Eastern European Road Trip begins in Turkey and our fear of being murdered by the enemy has melted away to a deep love and appreciation of Turkey and the Turkish people. We have fallen in love, quickly, with the food, the people, and the culture so close to that we know in Israel. And Ayvalik is this small fairy tale little fisherman’s town, lazy, and sprinkled by fluffy but healthy street cats and more scruffy but smiling old men. Ayvalik is  sunny but crisp, and weather-wise, dearly reminds us of our beloved Dalat, Vietnam. This video is my new art and it brings me immense pleasure. It reflects in about three minutes the joys and sunny life we experienced for 4 days in Ayvalik, Turkey at TheBoutiqueSmallHotels.com’s Macaron Konagi.   Macaron Konagi was our precious first experience with TheBoutiqueSmallHotels.com.We feel in love with Yavuz and Serap and their passion to make this dream come true. They bought an ancient, run-down, dilapidated ruin and turned it, with...
