Lost World of Tambun and Spa- One Amazing Family Attraction in Malaysia [Photo Essay] – Part Two

Lost World of Tambun and Spa- One Amazing Family Attraction in Malaysia [Photo Essay] – Part Two

So, we loved the Lost World of Tambun and Spa and had a truly delightful time. We shared with you in Part One’s photo essay how much we were waaaaaaaaaiting for our time there and how all-awesome the spa was. It’s a really sweet and genius deal that they’ve come up with. You let the kids have hysterical water fun and we’ll take the parents (preferably one at a time) and spoil them to death. We were apprehensive the the aura in the middle of a noisy water park would be relaxing, and yet, surprisingly, it totally was. Our treatments were quiet, serene, and rejuvenating. Now in Part Two, we’re excited to show you the park in the evening! It is absolutely stunning! And that aura with those hot springs- God!  I want to go back! These night shots reveal it all. Enjoy!                        Lost World of Tambun is breathtaking at night! We loved every second of this delightful...

Staying Healthy In My Life On The Road, Unicorn Hair, and Other Life-Changing Ruminations in the Malaysian Airport

Staying Healthy In My Life On The Road, Unicorn Hair, and Other Life-Changing Ruminations in the Malaysian Airport

We talk about really serious life-altering things like Why Don’t You Get A Real Job and Stop Abusing Those Poor Kids, How People Honestly Treat Others Like Trash, and  You Would Die If You Knew Just How Rich We Were . Recently, we’ve written some touchy ones like Unorthodox Response to the Boston Marathon Tragedy, How To Piss Your Friend Off And Make Your Dreams Come True, and How To Afford RTW Travel Transportation for Long-Term Family World Travel?  And now, we want to entertain you with how I’m determined to stay healthy even while on the road, how my hair is doing the unicorn thing, and a bunch of other ramblings in the airport after zero hours of sleep. Yes, I’d love your thoughts, especially about the hair! Enjoy! Yes, we’re not here right now.  Yes, we’re currently hiking the Annapurna Circuit with the best The Nomadic Family Project film crew in the world. We love you! And yes, please comment and tell us your thoughts on these...

Family Travel Luxury Pampering For the Whole Family- Rock Spa- Hard Rock Hotel Penang, Malaysia [Photo Essay]

Family Travel Luxury Pampering For the Whole Family- Rock Spa- Hard Rock Hotel Penang, Malaysia [Photo Essay]

Words simply cannot capture how blown away we were by Hard Rock Hotel Penang’s Rock Spa, run by their lovely manager Lenny. From the moment we arrived to the premise, we were treated like royalty and family, given the royal pampering of a lifetime, while still laughed with and talked to like dear old friends. As this was our first and only experience with a spa that caters to the entire family, we were simply delighted by our level of professional pampering, as well as the tender loving-kindness and professional kid-friendly attention and treatment our kids got. Since words can’t do it justice, I think I will allow the photos to try. (Of course I included funny captions to help you deal with the drool and jealousy you are about to experience. I’m nice that way.) If you are in Penang, Malaysia, Hard Rock Hotel is a must, and the Rock Spa is a double must. Enjoy the photos of this amazing staff, their care, and how much we’re...

Lost World of Tambun and Spa- One Amazing Family Attraction in Malaysia [Photo Essay] – Part One

Lost World of Tambun and Spa- One Amazing Family Attraction in Malaysia [Photo Essay] – Part One

Someone asked us the other day what they could do with their kids in Malaysia? Having spent three and a half months loving the people and frolicking in the beauty, attractions, restaurants, and joys of Malaysia, we feel we have a really good, long, detailed answer. And yet, one place our kids keep referring to is Lost World of Tambun. The park is amazing, the food was unreal, the spa was a true joy, and the history and cultural aspects of the park transformed ‘just another water/theme park’ into ‘a living breathing, well-rounded fun and educational family experience.’ We loved our days at the park and spent the remaining two months in Malaysia having the kids beg us to go back. 🙂 So, without further ado, enjoy our little photo essay of part one of ecstatic fun at The Lost World of Tambun and Spa.                                             And that...

Living It Up- Life on the Road Luxury Travel- HPL Hotels, Malaysia

Living It Up- Life on the Road Luxury Travel- HPL Hotels, Malaysia

You already know that we believe in angels. We talk about them all the time. Raffy here in Moalboal is totally, but totally, totally one. Victor from Melaka, Malaysia was too. (I haven’t written about him just yet.) And the old, old lady from Kampot, Cambodia was. She was just shining in her angel-light. (You’ll want to see the pictures. You can see the light in her eyes.) There are others who we randomly met or were introduced to us that created a chain of events that brought us great blessings. One such meeting was Daniel from Food Playground, who was introduced to us this crazay, hysterical night through Jason at Pillows and Toast in Singapore, who introduced us to Michael, who connected us with Nina, who put us in touch with Grace and crew, Lena and staff, and Pham and family. Needless to say, following this is about as clear as my sister’s neighbor’s boss’s cousin’s second wife, but trust me, for us who are living it, we...

The Ten Absolute Best Meals In South East Asia- A RTW Photo Food Celebration

The Ten Absolute Best Meals In South East Asia- A RTW Photo Food Celebration

We’d like to pretend that we’re civilized and regal in our food consumption etiquette, but, well, we’re not. At all. We’re more along the lines of Sofia’s mindset to the power of three, plus hand-eating, talking with our mouths full, and huge bites that are totally a choking hazard for a rhino. So, it ain’t the prettiest but it’s fun. We eat with our hands, on the floor, pick up fallen food, and laugh a lot. In our third year, country number twelve, we’ve had so much lip-smackin, cultural delicatessens, some really gross stuff, and many interested combinations from the mammal, amphibian, and insect groups. And in celebration of this glorious event we’re going to bring you a whole bunch of posts related to food, under a new category called RTW FOOD! We’ve been invited to many really nice places and have eaten some wildly delicious meals that made our taste buds do the happy dance. These were the kind of meals that make you die-and-go-to-heaven for the first,...

The Most Illogical, Unreasonable, and Absurd Things We Pack- Life on the Road Tips

The Most Illogical, Unreasonable, and Absurd Things We Pack- Life on the Road Tips

We’ve been traveling a long time now. We’ve seen all sorts of odd things, participated in amazing festivals, and have slept under every imaginable and unimaginable condition you can imagine. (Oh, oh, oh! New all-time high, which even beats sleeping in a bar with the kids, is now… a slightly up-graded whore house. Yes, I’m proud, and yes, more details of this world-schooling classroom adventure soon.) We’ve reached all sort of enlightenments and insights (most famously noted in I Know Nothing And 99 Other Things The Road Has Taught Me), have endangered our lives more times than we’d like to admit, have volunteered as a family around the globe, and melted down and broken enough to be considered seriously off-balance. We sometimes consider ourselves reasonable, sane adults leading our family to greatness; and sometimes feel like lost, bewildered children besides ourselves in self-doubt. So, when people ask us questions about travel, like what do you pack, what unreasonable things do you tote around, and what would you have done...
