The Unreal Joys of Domesticated Life- Feeling at Home Within- Israel

The Unreal Joys of Domesticated Life- Feeling at Home Within- Israel

Kobi’s still out and about backpacking the world as the man on a mission to be just by himself and we’re settling into normalcy with grace and joy and wisdom. We’re enjoying our home, not going anywhere much, doing tons of art activities, and falling in love (over and over again) with our beloved Kitty Cat. We’re also finding great joy and inspiration, great strength in inner calmness and purpose in working in the garden. We’ve got all sorts of exciting things happening in our domesticated slice of heaven. In the fruit tree department, we’ve added red pomela, pomegranate, and one other I can’t recall to the peach and apricot trees that will bring us fruit for the first time this summer, and the lemon, mandarin, and clementine trees that we’ve enjoyed this year. We’ve got flowers of such grace and beauty that bring us joy daily as we awe in their constant growth and change, their color, and how they, and everything else in that yard, sways in...

Happy 12th Birthday Orazi- the Most Beautiful Boy in the World [Photo Essay]

Happy 12th Birthday Orazi- the Most Beautiful Boy in the World [Photo Essay]

I’m here and they are there, and yet the distance makes me fall in love with my best and only son none the less. Happy birthday to our young prince, our flirty, funny dancing mini-Kobi. Happy birthday to the one male in the house who can spoil and gently care for his sisters one second and terrorize them the next. Happy birthday to the one kid who knows best how to make deadly traps and how to perfectly balance his mini-manhood with knitting, flower-picking, and art activities. You are our gentle, sensative little man, our little cherub with those blonde curls and blue eyes who, even in moments when we most want to murder you, you manage to charm your way out of it. This photo essay is for you Chazi.                            Mosaic art in Ecuador                                      ...

Dahnya’s Bat Mitzvah- I Hope You Dance- Nomadic Family World Travel Returns Home- Kiryat Shemona, Israel

Dahnya’s Bat Mitzvah- I Hope You Dance- Nomadic Family World Travel Returns Home- Kiryat Shemona, Israel

Finally, I can catch my breath and share what a joy celebrating for Dahnya was. It was everything she hoped and all that our princess deserved. We were surrounded by those who love us most, dear old friends from our previous life eons before we left Israel, precious and dear family whom embrace us in ever-love and laughter, and the chance to do right by Dahnya and make this day that she’d been planning for years (literally!) exactly as she wished it. The videos were gifts to Dahnya- one from us to uur precious reminding her the lyrics of the song we dedicated to her when she was born, but delivered with the love of family and friends across the globe. The other video is from film director and closest friend Angela (The Nomadic Family Project) as a testament of how brave and powerful and what a hero Dahnya really is. Dahnya has had one rocky return to a hostile social reality and said to me one day how she remembers her bravery...

Most Magical Place on the Planet- Cappadocia, Turkey- RTW Nomadic Family Travel Question #29

Most Magical Place on the Planet- Cappadocia, Turkey- RTW Nomadic Family Travel Question #29

After three and half year globetrotting, it’s a huge honor to sit back, sigh, and reflect. There were moments that sucked beyond comprehension, moments where I wanted to crawl into fetal position and be ‘home’ (whatever that really means); and there were moments when I raised my hands to the heavens or hugged my kids and Kobi even closer still, and thanked God/the fairies/the stars for our unreal fortune and luck to have been able to have had just that moment. We grew so close, fell apart, witnessed, cried, laughed, got lost and found in seventeen lands and always still in the chamber of our own souls. And sometimes, we’re asked THE question, the one that take my breath away- where was your favorite place in the world, which is evergreen bittersweet for there is something unquenchably romantic about the longing of the human heart, and how, no matter how wonderful it was, or how it could never be that again, or even no matter how remarkable the Now...

How Cool the Open Road Can Be [Video]- Carrentals.co.uk, Eastern Europe Road Trip- Istanbul to Ayvalik, Turkiye

How Cool the Open Road Can Be [Video]- Carrentals.co.uk, Eastern Europe Road Trip- Istanbul to Ayvalik, Turkiye

We fell beyond blessed and grateful to have yet another dream of ours come true- The Eastern Europe Road Trip! And to celebrate the awesomeness of the open road, we wanted to give you the highlights of our longest day on the road. It was supposed to be a gruesome 8 hour+ drive from Istanbul to Ayvalik, and to our surprise, it was delightful! It’s the best of the best moments of being in the car, feeling the wind and feeling nauseous, feeling free and feeling trapped, all wrapped up in that unreal, changing Turkiye landscape. Loved making the video! It is one of those really great ones. Enjoy it!       —————————————————————————————– The Road trip begins with Basketball and Getting out of Istanbul if you’ve like to follow the entire road tripping part of things. And the Turkey experience starts with Murder turned Love Affair, and goes onto The Mother of all Videos.   We have nothing but the deepest appreciation for Carrentals.co.uk for their generous contribution to our Eastern European Road Trip. Should you...

New Child-Size Scuba Gear Photo Essay- Savedra Dive Center, Panagsama Beach, Moalboal, Cebu, Philippines

New Child-Size Scuba Gear Photo Essay- Savedra Dive Center, Panagsama Beach, Moalboal, Cebu, Philippines

Is is common practice that a dive shop will go and buy new child-size scuba gear to be sure they are absolutely serving you to the highest most professional, safest manner? Is it the norm that a dive shop will pride it’s customer service and the quality of it’s gear so much that it will make investments that it knows will take a long time to repay. even for one client? Is it what you find all over the world in dive shops that they care so much, they take the time to be absolutely meticulous in their safety and precautions? No. We’ve dove (or have we diven?) all over the world and our experience, and the irresponsible horror stories we’ve heard from fellow divers around the world, yells, “No!” But, hear ye, hear yea, we found a diamond in the rough. Seriously. If you want the cheapest deal you can get, don’t come here. If you want a very reasonably priced dive shop with high quality gear and...

The Mother of All Videos, The Father of All Vacations- SmallHotels.com.tr, Macaron Konagi Otel- Ayvalik, Turkey- Eastern Europe Road Trip

The Mother of All Videos, The Father of All Vacations- SmallHotels.com.tr, Macaron Konagi Otel- Ayvalik, Turkey- Eastern Europe Road Trip

And so our Eastern European Road Trip begins in Turkey and our fear of being murdered by the enemy has melted away to a deep love and appreciation of Turkey and the Turkish people. We have fallen in love, quickly, with the food, the people, and the culture so close to that we know in Israel. And Ayvalik is this small fairy tale little fisherman’s town, lazy, and sprinkled by fluffy but healthy street cats and more scruffy but smiling old men. Ayvalik is  sunny but crisp, and weather-wise, dearly reminds us of our beloved Dalat, Vietnam. This video is my new art and it brings me immense pleasure. It reflects in about three minutes the joys and sunny life we experienced for 4 days in Ayvalik, Turkey at TheBoutiqueSmallHotels.com’s Macaron Konagi.   Macaron Konagi was our precious first experience with TheBoutiqueSmallHotels.com.We feel in love with Yavuz and Serap and their passion to make this dream come true. They bought an ancient, run-down, dilapidated ruin and turned it, with...
