16 Documented Reasons to Delve into your Nature-Loving, Adventure Spirit in Malaysia-Nomad Adventures Earth Camp [Videos that Rock]

God, were we unprepared. We had every best intention to fall in love with this unreal place, to enjoy it’s connectedness to Mother Earth, and to enjoy the zip line, the omega, the caving, the white river rafting, and the unreal staff of Nomad Adventures, and we did, we did, we did, but we were just very lost and tired during this point of our adventures, as we’ve been so many other times on the road, and off. So all of our videos reflect how cool the place is and how much going to Earth Camp with kids is an unreal endless adventure that you cannot ever, ever forget (we are eternally grateful for being invited to participate in it all) and still, we were just tired and a bit overwhelmed with our lives, which is also partially portrayed between the lines. 🙂 And why now? Cuz we’re about to hit the road again and we look forward and backwards in spiral, joyful waves and love everything we experienced,...

Saving the Kittens, Gaia, and the Elephants Because We All Can- World Travel Blog Environmentalism

Saving the Kittens, Gaia, and the Elephants Because We All Can- World Travel Blog Environmentalism

Meet God. She’s a sweetheart and always bows down to you in this shy, modest way. She’s beauuuuuuuuutiful and always smiling. She smells like dog, but so she should cuz she is one. I have no doubt that this soul cannot be anything less than straight from heaven. There’s not a mean bone in her body, and even if Juley growls or attacks her, she walks away, well, floats away joyfully. We’ve fallen in love with cats and dogs, sheep and goats, and even ants and crickets all over the world. We’re an animal-loving, cuddle-magnetizing bunch and no matter what kind of fur (or lack of) we are so grateful to love. That explains the scrawny kitten Kobi and the kids saved from the net in the market in Panagsama Beach, Moalboal, Philippines and why my darling Dahnya said what only a softy animal lover like us could understand. She said…. What She Said “You know Mom, I know this may sound mean but I’d almost rather the kitten...

Christmas Break Reflections- Goa, India

Christmas Break Reflections- Goa, India

It’s the end of Christmas Break, the kids are outside building a fortress, and I’m here inside sucking on some holiday mint M&M’s. We’re like monkeys, minus the eating lice eggs part,  picking lice eggs out of each other’s hair as a relaxing pastime. Unlike it was in Houston, it’s hot outside, there are cows and buffalo roaming the streets, and no one, including me, wears deodorant. Sangita our maid/cook/gift from a heaven has quit after one day on the job. It’s been a week since my transition from daughter/sister to mother/wife. Though I had wanted a month in an ashram near here, I got instead a month of reenacting childhood dramas but with endings and hidden character feats I had previously been unaware of. As I told Yael who insisted I could all the work I had hoped to do with my childhood, nuclear family, “It’s so much more romantic, and safer in the ashram,” and so it would have been. Solai and I watched a hummingbird float...

Diving With Sea Turtles- Moalboal, Philippines, Savedra Dive Center [Video]

Diving With Sea Turtles- Moalboal, Philippines, Savedra Dive Center [Video]

We loved Panagsama Beach in a way that is hard to express. Was it that the kids were roaming for hours a night in the streets doing what kids are supposed to, getting dirty, playing chase, getting lost in hide and seek, and normal street-smartology that comes with life in the hood? Was it just how unreal Henry and Hermann the German and Lee from Savedra Dive Center were and how hysterically inappropriate and funny the times were with them? Was it Raffy the angel who taught us about seizures and love and being unmanly? There was so much joy in that life in Moalboal at Anthony’s. Yes, there was the 60 year old expats with their 20 year old girlfriends and all that came with that. Yes. But, there were sea turtles. Oceans of them, almost every dive and that once when Solai and I were snorkeling right there off the shore, and how he slowed down and looked back at us, waiting for us to continue being...

Your One-Stop-Shop Telenovela of Family Travel Blog Trekking Adventure Hell- Day 1- Annapurna Circuit with Kids, A Multi-Media Celebration

Your One-Stop-Shop Telenovela of Family Travel Blog Trekking Adventure Hell- Day 1- Annapurna Circuit with Kids, A Multi-Media Celebration

It is time to start sharing our Annapurna Circuit with Children experience. All of it, and not just the life-threatening parts including hypothermia, fever and an extreme case of lethargic child at 5,200 meters, vomit, diarrhea, and all those drop-to-your-death cliffs that left us so very shaken up as parents who made these decisions on behalf of their children. We’d want to give you all of it. The good, the bad, the ugly, the really funny, and the thoughtful. So, welcome to Day One! It’s a lovely collection of photography and video all reflecting what our first day on the trail was like. Highlights: Oh My God! We’re ridiculously out of shape, whimpy, and totally not ready for the physical and mental challenges before us. That will sort of be the ongoing theme, in addition, to tons of furry animals, unidentified shit of all shapes and sizes, break-downs, song, tons of laughter, some serious “God, why are we doing this thing again?” talks, and amazing vistas. It’s basically your...
