Our Trashed Home, Being in the Now, and 10 Crazy, Odd, Cool Unknown Facts About the Canary Islands

Our Trashed Home, Being in the Now, and 10 Crazy, Odd, Cool Unknown Facts About the Canary Islands

Kobi and I are working passionately on being in the present moment. On living this moment, then this one, then this one, and when we got pictures from the real estate showing our house trashed, our furniture in the rain and sun, and the damage and unpaid rent and bills by our last tenants, it took us a bit to recollect ourselves and remind ourselves of a few things. Right now, we are here in Nepal and there is no value in drowning in the anger, frustration, and pain of seeing our beloved sun-kissed, mountain-side home trashed, the grass where we played now sand, and the garden and home looking like a total dump. No point in living mentally in Israel when we are now here in Kathmandu, Nepal buying cool tribal masks to send to that beloved home. It is material and we are more; it is there, we are here; it- we will solve in the future, we- we can solve now. And so, with remarkable speed,...

Family Travel Bucketlist #23: Africa’s Little Ole Mauritius Island

Family Travel Bucketlist #23: Africa’s Little Ole Mauritius Island

We’re on the eve of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. We’ve been living full-time in the Chabad House at Kathmandu. Turns out there’s a whole TV series about this extraordinary Rabbi and his amazing wife in Israel and soon, the film crews will return to record season two. Our film crew arrives in two days and we could not be more excited! Angela, Noah, and Erin have already boarded their flight and will soon be joining us in the muddy madness of Kathmandu, Nepal. While in the Chabad, we hear travelers speak of this rafting exhibition, that temple, and the Annapurna Circuit herself. Their stories fill us with excitement and anticipation towards our own adventure. This bucket list is about to take place, others are far off. One that I can’t believe is even on our mental map is Africa. I always wanted to go to Africa; Kobi never did. And now that we’ve met good friends who safaried there, we saw two family travel blogs of families...

Ten Fun, Fascinating, Cool, Unknown Facts about Korea- Family Travel Blog Bucketlist #219

Ten Fun, Fascinating, Cool, Unknown Facts about Korea- Family Travel Blog Bucketlist #219

So, I’m starting to like these fascinating country facts articles. Read the Ireland one- it’s sooo cool. These cool country facts articles empower me to learn all this cool stuff about countries around the world that I otherwise would remain totally ignorant about. So, the little I know about Korea is that it’s in Asia and that this really nice Korean guy in the hotel in Bangkok, Thailand gave us the all-time, most illogical but our favorite travel gift- this huge stuffed Ikea dog which we use as a pillow and friend everywhere we go. And so, we’d often thought about taking up hostel jobs, marketing work, or teaching jobs in Korea. We’ve met many travelers who had settled in Korea and taught in the schools there. They all had the best stories to tell about falling in love with really grateful and sweet students and the communities they became a part of. Without further ado…. Ten Fun, Fascinating, Cool, Unknown Facts about Korea! 1.Tipping is not customary in...

Why Life On The Road May Lead Us To Bali, Indonesia

Why Life On The Road May Lead Us To Bali, Indonesia

So, you’ve seen the ever-adorable Country 11 Video¬† we made with the Pillows and Toast Hostel staff in Country 11 and now we’re back in Country 10 (aka Malaysia) and loving Back Home Hostel too much for words. The staff jokes with us, let’s us cry and share deeper stuff about parenting and in-laws, and treat us totally like we are one big happy family. That sense of real community is what we seek, and miraculously find, in every corner of the globe. So, we have a three month visa here. You get 90 days at the airport, no fees, no paperwork, no hassle, no strings attached. We appreciate that. We left for 2 weeks, and stayed for 3 because Pillows and Toast Hostel held us hostage, in Singapore, and now we have 2 7 weeks here. We’ll be going to Country 12 for 5 weeks and then we don’t know where the wind will take us. We know we have to be in Nepal in September to meet...

Why We Fall In Love- Taganga, Colombia (Photo Journal)

Why We Fall In Love- Taganga, Colombia (Photo Journal)

Yeah, I know, a blog is meant to update you on what we are currently doing. Ok, got it; but, just hear me out, ok? We’ve been on the road for almost a year and a half now, and, what we have experienced is more than I have experienced in the last ten years. An evening, a conversation, a meal can be this a-ha amazing milestone for our souls. And, well, you know, when I was really obsessed with sharing live, every minute by minute play of what we were doing; I lost touch with really being in the moment, really experiencing my life. I was too occupied with ‘wait till I get home to share this,’ so I stopped sharing and started living. And hence, slowly, as my soul allows me, I am sharing. Slowly, between almost-everyday exercise, 5 days of week schooling the kids, teaching Clean Your Soul classes 3 days a week, writing for two blogs I am passionate about, having 2 hour leisurely lunches with...
