Airport Attractions: The Best Place To Be Delayed According To JustFly
There is nothing more terrifying than arriving at the airport and seeing that one terrible word next to your flight: Delayed. Delayed flights can derail your vacation, delay your arrival home, and lead to missed connections. While you may need a few minutes to mutter a few choice words to yourself, once you collect yourself you may actually not be stuck in the most boring place in the world. There are airports all over the world that have some really great attractions built right into them, making them a fun place to blow off some steam for a few hours while you wait for your flight to depart. To find out which airports have some of the best attractions I spoke with JustFly. An online travel agency, JustFly is keenly aware of the various attractions at international airports. They gave me their top five favourites.
Seoul, Korea – Ice Skating
First according to JustFly’s review, Incheon International Airport offers a chance for travellers to lace up the skates and explore what they call The Ice Forest. While skates may not cross your mind as something you can get through security in your carry-on, the airport offers rentals of skates, helmets, and gloves so you can get some quality ice time in before your flight.
Sepang, Malaysia – Rain Forest Retreat
Airports can be sterile environments that are devoid of colour and life. This is not the case at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. This airport features a jungle boardwalk filled with lush greenery, trees, and a waterfall according to JustFly. A great place to find some zen before your flight, this boardwalk adds some real zest to your airport experience.
Schiphol, Netherlands – Art Gallery and Library
In addition to a rotating collection of art classics, Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport also features an international library for travellers from across the word. While 1,200 books is a good supply of literature, the real treat is the fact they have books written in 29 languages for people from across the world.
Richmond, British Columbia – Aquarium
Vancouver International Airport’s main draw is the fact that they have two massive aquariums built into their airport. With sea life supplied by the Vancouver Aquarium, visitors can expect to see wolf eels, sea stars, tiger fish, and much more.
Los Angeles, California – PUP Program
Pets Unstressing Passengers. If that sounds like heaven to you, then LAX is the airport for you. Yes, this airport has a roving team of therapy dogs waiting to spread love and affection to weary travellers who want to forget about their upcoming flight.
