The globe has been kind to us, protecting us, keeping it fun, and dusty, and raw, and real everywhere we go. And always, teaching us that we know nothing and 99 other things the world has taught me.

We’re clearly been surrounded by love and joy and amazing friends scaling the globe. We’ve lived in five-star hotels and total dumps in our liquified homelessness. We pride ourselves for seeking out opportunities to live like a local and be perpetually barefoot. We’ve learned unreal lessons in this get-out-of-the-house-with-a-backpack-thing lifestyle. And so, without further ado, Oh, The Places You’ll Go- Everywhere this Family Travel Blog Bunch Has Been in pictures!

A place you could sprain both you elbow and chin!

that you’ll start in to race
down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace
and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space,

Because, sometimes, they won’t.

I’m afraid that some times
you’ll play lonely games too.
Games you can’t win
’cause you’ll play against you.

All Alone!
Whether you like it or not,
Alone will be something
you’ll be quite a lot.

And when you’re alone, there’s a very good chance
you’ll meet things that scare you right out of your pants.
There are some, down the road between hither and yon,
that can scare you so much you won’t want to go on.

But on you will go
though the weather be foul
On you will go
though your enemies prowl
On you will go
though the Hakken-Kraks howl
Onward up many
a frightening creek,
though your arms may get sore
and your sneakers may leak.

On and on you will hike
and I know you’ll hike far
and face up to your problems
whatever they are.

The Sources of Inspiration and Even More Inspiration

Friends, know that this entire post’s theme, using our favorite Dr’s text for this post is 100% Chris’s genius. (I stole it!) And the idea for all of us in love and light to share our “Where has the world taken you?” comes from our love Erin Bender at Travel With Bender.

My soul is honored enough to have some dear friends whom I share my online and inward world with. Together, we probed into where the world has taken us. Please take the time to look at their work and to read their words. They are my hoodlum friends and are soooooo worth it!

  1. Oh, I just love you guys. You bring tears of joy to my eyes just reading this and seeing the wonderful photos. You are great!

  2. Wow, you guys have been busy. Love the photo essay idea, as it’s more fun to look back at pictures than read about what happened. Hope you have as much fun next year.

  3. Gabi, I love the way you live and the experiences that you offer to your children. This is the best education you could ever offer them. Keep rocking the world.

  4. Gabi, what fantastic adventures! You and your family have such amazing energy. Your lovely children are going to grow into the most interesting, competent, loving, conscious adults because of everything you’ve done together. Absolutely awesome. 🙂

  5. OOOhhhh I enjoyed that! What a walk down memory lane and what a reminder of why we do THIS CRAZY SHIT!!!! Love it, love your family and those amazing blue eyes of Orazi’s in one of the first photos. I’ve been having a horrible time lately with my mum ( she hates me, I’m dealing with it). This, and my lovely husband and his stupid Christmas turkey hat have cheered me up. Thanks.

  6. Wow, wow, wow. I totally love ‘liquified homelessness’.
Oh my, Siem Reap. I love that day when we searched for ‘your’ garden guest house and the famous chocolate balls. it was just a great thing to see the same places you and your family experienced only a couple of months earlier.
I also recognize your picture at the feet of Buddha. Our guest house in Bangkok last July was only a 5 minute walk away from that place…we walked to see that Buddha statue a couple of times.
i love how you enjoy life, how you accept the ups and downs, how you take the maximum out of life (even if that means sleeping on some Japanese airport). Oh, the places you have been…

  7. What an exciting and varied year – can’t wait to see what 2014 brings for you guys!

  8. What a incredible life, Gabi. You guys are an inspiration. I can’t wit to meet you in India or Israel or soemwhere in between- perhaps Mauritius? 😀
    Merry Christmas & Happy 2014 travels! 😀

  9. That photo of Kog Rong looks amazing! Seems like you guys had a very fun year!

  10. What FUN to read this post – the perfect Dr Seuss cadence! This must have taken a long time to write. 🙂

  11. Wow, what an adventure. Love the photos. They’d make for a great coffee-table book or even a calendar.

  12. Lovely photos AND a Seuss poem – what’s not to love?

Seriously though… it’s been lovely reading about your trravels over the past year. Here’s to 2014 and lots more adventures.

    Merry Chritsmas

Elle… and Alan… and the dogs xxxx

  13. Your family does look truely happy. They seem to be having a fun time. I hope you are having a very happy holiday.

  14. You know what struck me about this post is the photos, so many people! I know seeing new monuments and beautiful country is definitely a top reason we all travel, but in the end it really is about the people we meet isn’t it?

  15. Oh Gabi, it brought tears to my eyes to go through this visual adventure with you. There are no words that can adequately describe the beauty of your life. You say you question your parenting choices (perhaps in jest), but don’t we all do the same thing when sitting in our stationary living rooms? I wish I could look into the future and see what your beautiful children do with their global educations. Please, keep doing what you do and sharing your adventures with the world! Love love love.
