What is your favorite place on the entire planet? OMG, tough question right? Is is that little garden beyond the strawberry patch on that mountain, or that sandy tropical beach there where the palm tree swayed just so? In our third year of world travel, I can still tell you that debatably my favorite place on the globe was sitting on that neighbors-threw-it-away-so-we-took-it coral/pink sofa, with my favorite cat in the world Bareket in my backyard with the wind chimes doing their thing, cat purring, my upper Galilee mountain-side wild grass dancing in the sunlight breeze. The couch and my soul-mate cat are both gone, but my memory of that spot, those moments are still there.

What is your favorite place in the world? We asked, and 17 of top travel bloggers answered. Enjoy this unreal photo essay brought to you in a gorgeous harmony of those who travel as a way of life. If you love a place you see, click on the link to related post included. Enjoy the chorus, and tell me which ones make you want to travel most.

Unreal collection of song and art no? That’s how I see this, people excited to share something that deeply moved them or deeply calmed them, music, an art of the soul. What is it that makes each of us say, no whisper, “that place” and sigh. Can we go back to ‘that place’ and can it ever really be the same as it was then? Or is this a favorite place that irrelevant of who is there, that you find yourself and can breath? Or can you escape and forget and become a part of that noise? I’d love to hear your thoughts on what is your favorite place on the globe. :-)

We want to grow and if you love what we are doing, you, yes you, you, you can help us do that. Please Google+ this article and a few others that you like, tell some media source about us, and share away. Comments= a personal hug from you to me. I’ll hug you back, I promise.

And, and, and we’re starting an ‘inner circle’ group, a thank-you-for-loving-us-and-we-want-to-love-you-back sort of thing where we’ll share videos we don’t publish on YouTube, travel tips, the worst moments, and the upcoming documentary film footage that we won’t show others. So, if you want to get that intimate with us, just sign up for the rss of the blog (get all of our amazing life-altering posts in your inbox) or write to me in the contact form (and ask to be added to the mailing list alone).

Mwah! Gabi

  1. What a fantastic round up of places. Amazing photos, every single one!!!

  2. Thorung La Pass, Tibet, for me :)

  3. It’s great to see how such different places appeal to different people (amazing pictures too). There seems to be no magic formula for finding a place you love; sometimes it just clicks and when it does, it’s incredible.

    • amy, i feel the same way, no magic formula, more a state of mind you are in, and the angels who come to greet you. sometimes it just clicks- well said. so happy you joined in on the parade. if you could add a link to your post saying that you are part of the carnival, that would be amazing. we’ll be doing best food in the world for june 20ish.

    • aren’t these amazing. truly. join us in june too, ok. best food in the world. :-)

  4. I don’t have a favorite place. Maybe I’ll carve out a kingdom of my own and make it myself.

    • oh i love that. i’ll come visit your kingdom. i promise. and yes, it’s almost impossible to say ‘favorite’ i agree.

    • this is quite dangerous indeed. so many amazing places i know drool over. join us in june too, ok. best food in the world. same rules. :-)

    • i know. it’s pretty awesome. i love carnivals! love them to death!

  7. great article gabi! my favorite place is still the cabin on trout lake mn where i spend summers as a kid. i guess it’s a time and a place. they are inextricably linked, aren’t they?

    • simon, i totally agree. it is a time and a place. it’s who we were then. totally. thank you for sharing yours. it sounds amazing. summons sweetness. gabi

    • jenna, hey girl! i love that one too. makes me wnt to go now, now, now…. :-)

  9. Our favorite place is actually fairly close to where we live: Sanibel Island, Florida. It’s only an 9-hour drive, but it’s become our home away from home, a tiny little barrier island on the Gulf Coast with tons of wildlife.

    • oh bret. sounds lovely. can you include a link for us so that we can all get to know your favorite place better? we’d love that. also, in june we’re doing best food in the world if you’d like to join the carnival. hugs, gabi

  10. This is a great collection of places! Amazing photos and places–I’m looking forward to reading more about them all when I get home with some better internet! Will add a link to mine too–thanks for including us!

    • isn’t it an amazing collection? seriously major inspiration! june- best food in the world. :-) where are now jenna? on some romantic trip?

  11. Some fantastic places, to be sure. But it’s really hard to choose a favorite. . . .if I do, then anywhere I go afterward pales in comparison. I try to really enjoy wherever I’m traveling at any particular time, to try and experience it at its best. (It’s a great theory, and it doesn’t always work, but it’s something I aspire to 😉 )

    • i love it and take it deeply. thank you dear larissa.

  12. ….consider my day ruined. I’m feeling cramped under loads of work for the end of the school year and dreaming of summer vacation! Glad to see one of my favorite places in the world, Spain, has made the list. Chicago, Split, Galway and on top of my snowboard are other heavy-hitters for me!

    • hey cat dear. and there goes another good day that could have been productive. happy to help. mwah. gabi

  13. Beautiful inspiration! Makes me think of my favorite place: perched on a rock overlooking Magens Bay on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.

    • oh sandra. thank you for sharing that. that sounds so lovely. do you happen to have a link at albanykid.com or can you make one and paste it hear so we can see a picture? i’d love that. gabi

  14. So many amazing places on this list but it could just go forever!!!
I love all the different insights here and that is why the world is such an interesting place.

    • abdil. thank you. you are so right! so many different reasons to love this globe. what is your favorite place on the globe? gabi

      • HI Gabi,
So far my favorite place is Japan.
It was all I imagined and more. The culture, history, food and the genuine kindness of the people just blew me away.
It’s my favorite place at the moment but considering there are so many places to see, that may change one day 😉

        • abdil. how wonderful. i’ve heard that people fall in love with japan endlessly, like my friend emiel at actoftraveling.com. if you have a post you could share with us about japan we’d all love to see it and learn the magic that is currently capturing your heart. put a link in the comments, ok? hugs, gabi

    • terry. i totally agree. what a great big amazing world we have out there. totally!

  15. :( My favourite place didn’t make it!

My favourite place (to date) is Venice. It was trip there in 2011 that made me and Franca decide that travelling was the only option for us.

    • hi dale. i ‘d love to see some pictures. send me a link dear. and join in the next carnival, end of june, best food in the world…

  16. We share some favorite words with you. Let’s connect at favoritewords.com It’s a neat and fresh app that’s free to use and it seems to offer some nice benefits.

    • wow. favoritewords.com. sounds cool but i’m not an app girl. i’m soooo old fashion! gabi

  17. I can’t believe I’d only seen this one. Lots of so beautiful places here! I would love to go on a Mt Everest hike!

    • hi dear aleah. i’ve missed you in these parts dear. yes! sooo many beautiful places. hugs to you, gabi

  18. All look great and I have enjoyed many. Mostly I would say any sidewalk cafe that I can sit with my kids and family around me while we sip cold drinks and talk long into the evening. Those are some of my favorite spots in the world!

Oh and I would add Dubai from my office — overlooking the Burj is pretty darn good.

    • i love the sidewalk cafe feeling. warm inside. thanks kate! love it.

  19. So many of my favorite places in the world are connected to wonderful memories and people (and usually food or drink!). Hands down my favorite city is the one where my whole family grew up – Chicago – though Seville, La Coruña, Iowa City, Brasov, Galway and Paris are up there, as well!

    • wow. how each of us is a book cat. a huge book. love to hear that little corner earmark of yours. hugs, gabi
