OMG Covered in Foam, Screaming, & Laughing- Cartagena, Colombia
That sums it all up really nicely: OMG, Covered in Foam, Screaming, and Laughing. That covers it. In the darkness, can you see Kobi fighting and getting drenched in foam? Can you see our kids attacked in an all-forces simultaneous forced military move? Can you hear my cackling from hysteria? And if you wait for the end, you can see the enemy spray me to death (even though I had the camera). We had a most crazy, hysterically fun night with these friends. We met them cuz the kids started attacking them with their foam sprayers and laughed and fought, and danced, and shared drinks and laughed some more, all night long.
Oh, this is the Reina Festivals in Cartegena, Colombia. We wrote about it a really well-received, thoughtful, fun piece about it on the blog. With some really amazing photos. (And just for you, a drop-dead gorgeous picture of Kobi in his blue wig! Will you join the We-Are-Dying-To-Do-Kobi-In-The-Blue-Wig- Fan Club? You really should. It’s quite popular. )
Cartagena, Colombia was powerful for us for several very personal reasons:
1. First time we returned to the same place we had previously been to. It was our rule of the road, not to backtrack, ever. Go, see, conquer, move on. But we came back for the festivals, and loved it!
2. First time we our kids hung out with “The Four Israelis.” We met them in Taganga, and met up with them again in Cartagena. Those boys who filled us up with an energy incomparable to none. They came over, played play dough with the kids, and even took Orazi to a boy’s evening in a coffee shop. Huge deal for him, and us!
3. First time we had attended a festival in Latin America!
